Hiring and Onboarding at Docker
From your first conversation to your first day (and beyond), we aim to create an experience that’s clear, respectful, and genuinely human.
Whether you’re early in your career or bringing years of experience, you can expect a process that’s transparent, thoughtful, and designed to set you up for success.
We’ve designed our hiring experience to reflect how we work: collaborative, transparent, and focused on real impact.
What to Expect When You Apply
- Equitable and Inclusive
We design our process to be fair, accessible, and focused on what matters, your skills, your potential, and your impact. - Clear Communication
You’ll always know where you are in the process. We’ll share what to expect, who you’ll meet, and how to prepare at every stage. - Candidate-Centered
We respect your time. That means timely updates, thoughtful conversations, and a process that treats you like a person, not just a resume. - Built for a Strong Start
Our goal isn’t just to hire great people, it’s to set you up to thrive from day one.
“It was apparent Docker does a thorough vetting of candidates before moving forward with an offer letter. The more wonderful people I met, continued to drive home that Docker was the best company for me to land.“

Our Hiring Process
1. Apply
Submit your application and share what excites you about Docker.
2. Recruiter Conversation
Connect with a recruiter to learn more about the role, discuss your background, and ask questions.
3. Interviews
Meet with the hiring manager, team members, and cross-functional partners to explore your experience, problem-solving approach, and how you work.
4. Offer
If it’s a strong match, we’ll move quickly to extend an offer and walk you through the details.
Most processes take around 3–4 weeks, and we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
“I was initially recruited by my previous manager from Snap, who I had a great working relationship with. After learning more about what his team was building at Docker—and the strong focus on AI and exciting new products on MCP Gateway —I decided to give it a try. Throughout the interview process, everyone was very easy to talk to. The conversations felt more like collaborative discussions around design and ideas rather than being quizzed. Since joining, I’ve found the team to be full of talented engineers who are both smart and genuinely excited about the product.“

Onboarding for Impact
Joining Docker is more than starting a new job, it’s stepping into a global, remote-first team built around trust and collaboration. From virtual welcome sessions to hands-on product experiences, our onboarding is designed to help you connect with your team, understand how we work, and start contributing with confidence.
Before You Start
You’ll receive a welcome email with paperwork, equipment selection, home office setup guidelines, and your first-day schedule. We’ll also send some Docker swag your way.
Your First Day
You’ll get set up with IT, meet your manager and onboarding buddy, and attend a Docker Onboarding Presentation covering how we work, key processes, and more.
Beyond Your First Day
You’ll meet more teammates at a comfortable pace, join team and company-wide meetings, and settle into your role as a full member of the Docker team.
“People at Docker (Dockhands) helped me feel welcome from day-one. There was an amazing hands-on session run for new hires to learn about and use the product – so powerful to put yourself in the customer’s seat! “
